Jacqueline + David

Our story 

Jacqueline and David met at a New Years Eve party in 2012. He tried and succeeded in impressing her with some terrible dance moves and corny jokes. Over time, they’ve travelled together, laughed together, lived together, and now will be starting a new adventure as husband and wife!

David proposed to Jacqueline on Christmas Eve. It was actually supposed to be on Christmas Day but Jacqueline was too impatient and wanted to open up one present the night before and picked David’s. She said yes with lots of ugly crying.

June
June and Jacquie met in 2011 through sharing mutual classes in their science undergrad at UBC. Throughout their undergraduate years, June and Jacquie shared many classes and hobbies together. Jackie even helped June score her first co-op job at Science World! But it was really Chem 233 where the gruesome and relentless hours spend studying organic chem in the basement of Irving that their relationship blossomed. Who would have thought that the smelly dungeons of UBC would foster a decade (and many more) of friendship! Over the years, June and Jacquie have kept in closely in touch and although the years may have passed, their friendship only grew stronger.

It is hard to find genuine friendships that last as long as Jacquie and I have been friends, but Jacquie has always been so loving and selfless despite her busy schedule. I am so grateful to have Jacquie in my life and so honoured to see her and David tie the knot in October!

Andrew

As played by Taco from FX’s hit TV show “The League”

David’s younger brother is a perpetually stoned, unemployed musician. He doesn’t care or know much about fantasy sports. He has won the fantasy championship at least once. He lives via handouts from his “eskimo brothers” (numerous sports celebrities). He takes martial arts, specializing in use of a naginta (youtube it and you will know). He turned his dead uncle’s van into multiple unsuccessful small businesses. It has been revealed that when he is not high he is actually very intelligent, (probably the most intelligent member of the group). Later, Eskimo-Brother Database ends up making him a lot of money and is bought by Mark Cuban. He participates in the general banter of the fantasy group, but rarely meets up with league members individually, unless he wants something from them.

Corinne

It all started in 2012 when Corinne met Jacquie at an event called Frosh. They instantly bonded over a love of cartoons, crafts and mutual stress from UBC. Corinne has cherished so many memories with Jacquie: from Color Runs and concerts, to escape rooms and craft fairs. One of Corinne’s favourite memories is when they were rocking out together at an OK Go concert when the stage crew unexpectedly blasted a hilariously excessive amount of confetti in their faces. It was so surprising and caused them to burst into laughter, but it did not stop them from dancing the night away.

Corinne has always loved Jacquie’s adventurous attitude in always wanting to explore and try new things. Jacquie can light up a room like no one else can and Corinne feels lucky to call her a friend. Not just for the fun times, but for Jacquie’s kind heart, her dependability, and her openness to sharing and listening to vulnerable stories. It is only fitting that Jacquie has found a partner who shares all these great qualities in David. Corinne feels incredibly fortunate to watch Jacquie and David continue to grow together and is absolutely ready to bawl her eyes out when they say their “I Do’s”.

Boris

As played by Pete from FX’s hit TV show “The League”

Boris attended high school with Dave, Justin, Yulin, Anthony, and Andrew. He is known to be the most “normal” among his group of friends, although he has struggled to mature in life and is still having a hard time getting used to adult life. Boris has been a participant in Dave’s fantasy leagues ever since he started commissioning and has won three championship titles against him. His girlfriend, Melanie, hates him. In his first season in Dave’s fantasy league, he made a trade with Anthony for Ronnie Brown for Plaxico Burress even though he is in jail. He is also the Sacko Bowl commissioner. He has been to the Shiva 6 times winning half and to the Sacko 2 times avoiding it once.

Ashley
Ashley met Jacquie at UBC and the two quickly became good friends over their mutual love of crafting, science puns and good tunes. Over the years, they have shared countless memories together including attending their first out of town concert where this photo was taken; look how excited they are!

Many inside jokes later and their friendship has seen both of them graduate, pursue additional degrees, move into their own places, and become even closer friends who will be there for each other no matter what life has in store for them. Ashley is touched and grateful to be part of the bridal party and will definitely cry multiple times on the big day.

Anthony

As played by Andre from FX’s hit TV show “The League”

“CHILD PLEASE” I am one of the most stylish guys in the group, the boys just don’t understand fashion. Ask Vin Diesel in XXX. Since 2007 I have been an easy target for being bald and awkward with nicknames like Nosferatu, but really I am one of the wealthiest plastic surgeons and the hippest because hey no dudes want to come in my man cave! I think its cute they all want to be me, I am so sophisticated I have been telling them for years that moist is the classy wet. So if yah disagree, Try the veal …Child!

Crystal

Crystal first met Jacquie in her early UBC days through a mutual friend. It wasn’t long before they became friends by joining the same team chasing plastic a.k.a. ultimate frisbee.  Over the years, they bonded through their love for all things crafty and tasty. If you didn’t already know, Jacquie is as much of a whiz with watercolours as she is at baking and cooking. They could both agree without a doubt that the way to their hearts is through their stomachs. Snack life 4 lyfe!  Crystal also enjoys the outdoors and nature and has experienced trails of the hiking and dumpling variety with Jacquie. They both entered nursing after UBC and often trade crazy work stories. There is nothing like bonding through the shared experience of code browns and code blues.

Crystal is thrilled to be a part of the bridal crew and #Jacquiesbigdave!

Yulin

As played by Kevin from FX’s hit TV show “The League”

Yulin is an attorney and David’s best friend. He is the fantasy football league commissioner. Because he has difficulty competing in the league on his own, he often takes football knowledge from others. Yulin is always wheeling and dealing and can be found negotiating draft picks in exchange for reduced prison sentences and giving up his future child’s naming rights for a win. In college, I got a “Fear Boner” when I thought I was about to get mugged by somebody who was only asking for directions.

Larisse

Larisse is a public health nurse who got into the profession so she could teach children about health. During one lesson to some first-graders, she asked the kids when a good time to wash your hands would be. One child, having listened intently to everything Larisse had said, enthusiastically answered “After you…skydive?” Outside of work, Larisse also loves using watercolours, taking care of her plants, playing video games, and watching anime. Larisse met Jacquie in nursing school and had the good fortune of sitting next to her each semester and sharing in Jacquie’s knowledge and snacks. Ever since Jacquie agreed to “hold onto” Larisse’s 3DS until after their first nursing midterms were done, Larisse knew Jacquie was a bad b who could always be trusted.

Justin

As played by Ruxin from FX’s hit TV show “The League”

I am a Chinese product-liability attorney by day and a digital content specialist for the rest of the day. He is just as ruthless and obnoxious in the courtroom as he is on the soccer field. I’ve also won 2 sports leagues where David was the commissioner. I traded for the naming rights to Yulin’s child and then traded it to Andrew for his #1 draft pick.

Fun fact: I also went to elementary school with Jacquie and David’s dad was my soccer coach growing up. I will also be attending nationals!
